Arantxa Rus enters this US Open first-round matchup as a qualifier after three straight wins on hard courts, but her 2026 singles record sits at 15-21 with limited recent success at the WTA level. Leolia Jeanjean, ranked roughly 70 spots higher at around No. 127, brings stronger main-draw experience including a Wimbledon second-round appearance and solid hard-court results from Toronto and Cincinnati. The 35-year-old Rus faces a short turnaround after qualifying, while the 31-year-old Frenchman has navigated a comparable schedule with more consistent outcomes. Trader consensus reflects these edges, pricing Jeanjean as the clear favorite on outdoor hard courts where recent form and ranking typically outweigh the left-handed challenge Rus presents.
