Mia Ristic and Himeno Sakatsume meet in the final round of 2026 US Open WTA qualifying on hard courts, with both players one win from main-draw entry. Sakatsume, ranked No. 144 with a career-high of 121 reached in July, brings greater experience after qualifying for the 2026 Australian Open main draw and posting consistent hard-court results. She advanced by defeating Tyra Caterina Grant in three sets on August 26. Ristic, a 20-year-old ranked No. 195, arrives on strong momentum after winning nine of her last 10 matches, including straight-sets victories over Ayana Akli and Francisca Jorge in earlier qualifying rounds, though her hard-court record this season remains limited compared with her clay success. No prior head-to-head exists, and no injury concerns have emerged for either player. The outcome hinges on whether Sakatsume’s ranking edge and surface familiarity outweigh Ristic’s recent form and aggressive baseline play.
