Jessica Pegula enters this US Open quarterfinal as the clear favorite against fellow American Emma Navarro, backed by a 4-0 head-to-head record that includes a straight-sets win in Cincinnati last month. The No. 3 seed has shown strong hard-court form, advancing with efficient victories over Sorana Cirstea and others while maintaining high first-serve percentages and return pressure. Navarro, the No. 26 seed, reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal since 2025 by defeating Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets and is playing her best tennis of the year on the surface. However, Pegula’s flatter ball-striking, baseline consistency, and movement have repeatedly neutralized Navarro’s counterpunching style in prior meetings. Both players benefit from recent rest and home-crowd support on the hard courts at Flushing Meadows.
