Jessica Pegula enters this US Open second-round matchup as the clear favorite against fellow American Sofia Kenin, buoyed by a dominant 2026 hard-court campaign that includes a Cincinnati final appearance and a 45-plus win total. The No. 3 seed dispatched Elena-Gabriela Ruse in straight sets in her opener and leads the head-to-head 4-2, with recent victories on both clay and hard. Kenin, ranked outside the top 100 and holding a sub-.300 win rate this season, advanced past Venus Williams in a late-night first-round battle but has posted mostly early exits and inconsistent results. On the fast Flushing Meadows hard courts, Pegula’s baseline consistency, serve reliability, and recent match volume give her the edge in what traders view as a lopsided contest.
