Jasmine Paolini, the No. 19 seed ranked No. 21, faces qualifier Lucrezia Stefanini (No. 119) in a second-round all-Italian US Open matchup on hard courts. Paolini, returning after a two-month absence following her Wimbledon quarterfinal run, defeated Veronika Erjavec in three sets in her opener and holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge. Stefanini reached the main draw by winning three qualifying matches and then upset Dayana Yastremska in the first round, showing strong break-point conversion on the surface. Paolini’s superior ranking, Grand Slam experience, and prior dominance in their meetings underpin the strong trader consensus favoring her, though Stefanini’s recent form and familiarity add competitive context to the encounter.
