Elise Mertens enters the Cincinnati Open second round as the higher-ranked player on the WTA tour, bringing extensive hard-court experience and recent success at majors that supports her strong implied probability in this matchup. Diane Parry arrives after a first-round victory over Caroline Dolehide and has shown competitive form on the surface, though her lower ranking reflects fewer consistent results against top competition. Head-to-head history, outdoor hard conditions at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, and both players' recent schedules—including Mertens' prior-week loss in Toronto—shape trader consensus around the Belgian's edge while leaving room for Parry to capitalize on any early breaks or extended rallies.
