Kalinskaya enters this WTA Cincinnati second-round hard-court matchup as the higher-ranked player and slight favorite, reflecting her stronger recent results and overall pedigree against McNally's home-crowd advantage in Ohio. McNally arrives with momentum after a straight-sets win over Kessler and has shown improved fitness following prior elbow and hamstring issues, while Kalinskaya carries a history of back and thigh problems that have occasionally disrupted her schedule. Their head-to-head stands even at 1-1, with Kalinskaya taking the most recent encounter on clay. The contest figures as a tight one where McNally's aggressive baseline game and local energy could test Kalinskaya's mental resilience on a fast hard-court surface.
