Elena Rybakina enters the US Open second-round matchup as the clear favorite, having dispatched qualifier Thea Frodin in straight sets for her first match since retiring with a left heel injury in the Cincinnati quarterfinals. The world No. 2 and two-time major champion continues to target the top ranking while showing sharp serving and baseline control on outdoor hard courts. Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, ranked No. 105, advanced comfortably past Darja Vidmanova but faces a steep step up in class against a player with superior power, reach, and Grand Slam experience. Prior head-to-head results favor Rybakina, and the surface rewards her aggressive style, though any lingering fitness issues could provide Bouzas Maneiro an opening in longer rallies.
