Martyna Kubka (No. 182) faces Marina Bassols Ribera (No. 133) in the second round of US Open women's singles qualifying on outdoor hard courts, with the higher-ranked Spaniard holding a narrow edge in trader consensus. Bassols Ribera advanced by rallying from a set down against Darya Astakhova, while Kubka recovered from a first-set tiebreak loss to defeat Annika Penickova in three sets. Kubka enters with stronger recent momentum, winning eight of her last 10 matches and posting a solid 19-6 hard-court record in 2026, whereas Bassols Ribera has shown inconsistency outside clay with several early exits in North American events this summer. No prior head-to-head exists, leaving surface form, recent three-set resilience, and ranking differential as the primary drivers in this closely contested qualifier.
