Marta Kostyuk enters the Cincinnati Open third round as the clear favorite against Sloane Stephens, backed by her No. 11 ranking, strong 2026 hard-court form (roughly 30-7 overall), and recent straight-sets win over Sofia Kenin. The Ukrainian has compiled consistent results across WTA 1000 events this season, including deep runs that reflect reliable baseline power and movement on outdoor hard courts. Stephens, a former US Open champion granted a wildcard, sits well outside the top 200 with a 13-15 record and has relied on experience to notch wins over Sinja Kraus and Anastasia Potapova. Their first career meeting favors the higher-ranked player’s current level, though Stephens’ veteran serve and court craft could extend sets if she maintains the momentum from her early Cincinnati victories.
