Maya Joint enters this Monterrey Open qualifying match as the clear favorite against local wildcard Jessica Hinojosa Gomez on outdoor hard courts. Ranked No. 67 with a career-high of No. 28 earlier in 2026, the 20-year-old Australian brings recent WTA hard-court experience from the Toronto and Cincinnati swings, including wins over Yuliia Starodubtseva and Sorana Cirstea. Hinojosa Gomez, a 28-year-old Mexican ranked well outside the top 300, earned her spot via a pre-qualifying victory but faces a steep jump from ITF-level events. The pair has no prior head-to-head history, and surface familiarity plus recent form favor Joint in what is a first-round qualifier encounter.
