Higher-ranked Oksana Selekhmeteva enters this US Open first-round hard-court matchup against Aoi Ito with a ranking advantage near No. 93 versus Ito's position outside the top 350. Selekhmeteva posted stronger recent hard-court results, advancing to the Philadelphia Challenger semifinals, while Ito has shown inconsistent WTA-level form this season. Ito holds the lone head-to-head win, defeating Selekhmeteva in straight sets with a tiebreak at the Toronto hard-court event weeks earlier. Both players arrive fit with no reported injuries, and the outdoor hard surface at Flushing Meadows rewards consistent baseline rallies and serve effectiveness in what projects as a competitive opening-round contest.
