Leylah Fernandez, the 30th seed ranked around No. 31, faces qualifier Xiyu Wang (No. 108) in the second round of the 2026 WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open on outdoor hard courts. Fernandez holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge, including a straight-sets win over Wang in Hong Kong last October, but enters with a 15-21 record for the year and inconsistent recent results. Wang, by contrast, boasts a strong 32-8 mark in 2026, highlighted by a deep French Open run and solid qualifying performances that have boosted her ranking. The matchup pits Fernandez’s experience and seeding against Wang’s current momentum and left-handed game on a surface that suits both players’ styles. Trader pricing reflects Fernandez as a modest favorite due to her ranking and prior results, while Wang’s form keeps the contest competitive.
