Caroline Dolehide faces 19-year-old Veronika Podrez in the opening round of 2026 US Open women's qualifying on outdoor hard courts. Podrez enters with strong recent momentum, including a tour-level semifinal run in Rouen and a climb to a career-high ranking near No. 132 after posting a 43-23 record over the past year. Dolehide, a veteran American with a career-high singles mark of No. 41, brings greater Grand Slam experience but has shown mixed singles results in 2026 alongside doubles success. The hard-court surface and high-stakes qualifying format favor consistent serving and return play, where Podrez's aggressive baseline game has produced high winner totals in recent matches. Any late injury updates or weather delays on the New York courts could further influence the outcome.
