Clara Burel enters this US Open qualifying match on hard courts ranked around No. 410 with a 10-8 record in 2026, still building match fitness after a lengthy knee injury layoff that limited her to lower-tier events. She captured an ITF title in Nice during her June comeback and reached a WTA 125 quarterfinal in Iasi last month, showing improved consistency on faster surfaces where her 19-15 hard-court ledger this season stands out. Yexin Ma, ranked near No. 181 with a 24-21 mark, holds the experience edge from multiple WTA main-draw appearances and recent wins, including a Memphis victory. The ranking gap and Ma’s higher-level seasoning shape trader consensus around the Chinese player, though Burel’s recent title and hard-court results keep the contest competitive in early qualifying rounds.
