Cristina Bucsa holds a substantial ranking edge as the WTA No. 40 facing WTA No. 144 Himeno Sakatsume in this US Open second-round hard-court match. Bucsa advanced with a three-set victory over seeded Sara Bejlek in the opener, leveraging her greater experience and recent title-winning form earlier in 2026 despite a mixed overall record. Sakatsume, a qualifier, has posted straight-sets wins in qualifying and her main-draw debut against Anhelina Kalinina, but faces a steep step up in competition on the fast New York surface. Trader consensus reflects Bucsa’s superior consistency and head-to-head profile in comparable Grand Slam settings, though Sakatsume’s momentum from strong recent hard-court results keeps the outcome from being fully one-sided.
