Robin Montgomery enters as the clear favorite against Carson Branstine in the final round of US Open qualifying on hard courts, reflecting her higher ranking (No. 187 vs. No. 565), stronger recent form, and recent title at the grass-court Libema Open in June. The 21-year-old American advanced with a dominant 7-5, 6-3 win over Jeline Vandromme, showcasing efficient serving and first-serve dominance. Branstine, returning after an eight-month shoulder injury layoff that began at Australian Open qualifying, produced a solid 6-4, 7-5 victory over Linda Fruhvirtova but faces questions about match fitness and rhythm on her first competitive outing since January. Their lone prior meeting dates to 2019 at a low-level event. Montgomery benefits from home support and consistent 2026 results, including Wimbledon qualifying, while Branstine seeks her first main-draw Grand Slam appearance.
