Susan Bandecchi enters the US Open qualifying final round against Arantxa Rus on hard courts with stronger current momentum as the higher-ranked player at No. 152. The Swiss right-hander has won nine of her last ten matches, including straight-sets victories over Alina Charaeva and Viktoria Hruncakova in the prior qualifying rounds, while posting a solid 15-6 hard-court record for 2026. Rus, ranked No. 203 at age 35, advanced past fellow Dutch player Suzan Lamens but carries a 15-21 seasonal mark and has shown inconsistency away from her preferred clay surfaces. Their lone prior meeting dates to 2021, when Rus prevailed in three sets on hard. Surface-specific return and break-point trends slightly favor Bandecchi’s recent aggression, though Rus’s veteran experience on big-stage hard courts remains a factor in this winner-take-all qualifier for main-draw entry.
