Mirra Andreeva, the No. 5 seed and recent French Open champion with a 40-13 record in 2026, faces world No. 35 Janice Tjen in the US Open first round on outdoor hard courts. The pair met just 10 days earlier in Cincinnati, where Andreeva prevailed 6-1, 7-6(5) after Tjen mounted a second-set challenge. Andreeva’s superior ranking, Grand Slam experience, and consistent hard-court results this summer underpin strong trader consensus in her favor, while Tjen’s career-high ranking and recent WTA-level wins provide limited upset potential in a matchup where the favorite has dominated their only prior meeting. Both players enter with solid recent hard-court exposure, though Andreeva’s depth and return game create a clear edge on the faster US Open surface.
