Lionel Messi’s continued dominance in the 2026 MLS season, where he leads the Golden Boot race with 25 goals and strong goal contributions at age 39, supports trader confidence in his scoring ability. However, the 2027 Sprint Season’s abbreviated 14-match format from February to May introduces high variance and fewer opportunities to pull ahead. Uncertainty around his potential return to Newell's Old Boys, ongoing physical demands at 40, and competition from younger forwards further balance the market near 50%. Strong late-2026 form or confirmed Inter Miami participation could shift momentum toward Yes, while any injury or reduced minutes would favor No.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Lionel Messi finishes as the leading goalscorer of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season regular season. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The 2027 MLS Sprint Season is the abbreviated 14-match Major League Soccer regular season scheduled to run from February 2027 to May 2027. Only goals scored in Sprint Season regular-season matches count. Goals in the 2027 MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, U.S. Open Cup, international matches and friendlies do not count. If Major League Soccer officially presents a Golden Boot award for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, this market will resolve according to that award. If two or more players finish level on goals scored, this market will resolve according to the tiebreaker applied by Major League Soccer, which awards the Golden Boot to the tied player with the fewest minutes played. If no single winner can be determined, this market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 MLS Sprint Season is cancelled, postponed after June 15, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or no leading goalscorer can be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Soccer; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
