Cristiano Ronaldo’s status for Portugal’s UEFA Euro 2028 qualifying campaign remains finely balanced because the 41-year-old forward has signaled he will likely retire after the 2026-27 season yet continues to express willingness to contribute if fit and selected. Recent events, including his September Nations League call-up under Jorge Jesus, a brief walk-out after limited minutes, provisional suspension by the Portuguese Football Federation, and subsequent statements affirming his desire to chase 1,000 career goals have created short-term uncertainty over availability. Traders weigh his record 146 international goals and proven impact against advancing age, club commitments at Al-Nassr, potential disciplinary resolution, and coach preferences for squad rotation ahead of qualifiers that begin no earlier than March 2027. Resolution of the suspension, strong club form, or explicit retirement confirmation could quickly shift implied probabilities in either direction.
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Cristiano Ronaldo appears in at least one match for Portugal in the qualifying competition for UEFA Euro 2028. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". An appearance means taking the field, whether as a starter or as a substitute, for any length of time. Being named in the squad or on the bench without taking the field does not count. Matches at the UEFA Euro 2028 final tournament, matches in the UEFA Nations League, and friendly matches do not count. If the UEFA Euro 2028 qualifying competition is cancelled, or Ronaldo has not appeared in a qualifying match by March 31, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be official information from UEFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
