Gabriel Lorenço steps into his UFC debut on short notice against Thomas Petersen after replacing Alvin Hines, bringing an eight-fight win streak and seven first-round finishes from regional and DWCS bouts. The 27-year-old Brazilian orthodox striker averages nearly 10 significant strikes per minute with heavy knockout power, contrasting Petersen’s southpaw wrestling approach and 3 takedowns per 15 minutes. Petersen enters off a first-round calf-slicer submission loss to Valter Walker in July and holds a 3-4 UFC record with multiple early defeats. The three-round heavyweight prelim at the November 7 Apex card highlights Lorenço’s finishing upside against Petersen’s need to mix grappling to avoid stand-up exchanges.
