Nathaniel Wood enters as the clear market favorite against undefeated newcomer Pavel Andrusca after Mairon Santos withdrew due to illness just days before the September 5 UFC Paris featherweight prelim. Wood, ranked No. 8 in featherweight meta rankings with an 11-3 UFC record and a four-fight win streak including recent decisions over prospects like Morgan Charriere and Losene Keita, brings extensive octagon experience and a 7-1 mark in his last eight appearances. Andrusca, an 8-0 Moldovan with a wrestling background and seven finishes in eight pro wins, steps in on roughly five days’ notice for his debut, carrying strong regional momentum from first-round stoppages in UAE Warriors but facing the typical challenges of short-notice preparation against a veteran. Wood has described the matchup as a frustrating “lose-lose” for his title aspirations regardless of outcome.
