Alex Perez and Sumudaerji square off in a Flyweight rematch on the main card of UFC Fight Night in Shanghai on August 29, following their May 30 no-contest in Macau that ended at 1:45 of round two after an accidental groin strike. Perez, the 34-year-old former title challenger with a 26-10 record, enters on the strength of a first-round knockout of Charles Johnson but carries a history of injuries and recent setbacks against grapplers. Sumudaerji, the 30-year-old southpaw known as the Tibetan Eagle, brings a three-fight win streak, superior 72-inch reach against Perez’s 65 inches, and the benefit of competing in front of a home Chinese crowd. Recent form highlights Perez’s pressure and finishing power against Sumudaerji’s rangy striking and improved takedown defense, with both fighters’ prior bout showing competitive striking exchanges before the foul.
