Ralph Norman maintains a commanding lead in Greenville County for the August 25 South Carolina Republican Senate special primary runoff, reflecting his strong performance in the August 11 first round where he captured 40% of the local vote against Darline Graham Nordone’s 23%. As the U.S. representative from the adjacent 5th district, Norman benefits from established conservative support in the upstate region, recent straw poll victories among local Republicans, and name recognition built during his prior statewide gubernatorial bid. Traders assign him over 96% probability of carrying the county because these factors have produced consistent advantages in similar Republican primaries. A shift would require unusually high turnout favoring Nordone or a late surge in her statewide momentum overcoming the county’s established voting patterns.
