This market will resolve to "Yes" if Vladimir Putin meets with one or more Iranian government officials by August 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A meeting is defined as any encounter where both Putin and one or more Iranian government officials are present and interact with each other in person. An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.
Recent announcements confirm that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian plan to hold their sixth in-person meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, scheduled for August 31–September 1. This timing aligns directly with the market deadline and follows a series of high-level contacts, including recent phone calls and a $25 billion memorandum on nuclear power plant construction. Strengthening economic ties, including energy projects and a free-trade framework with the Eurasian Economic Union, plus ongoing coordination on regional security, underpin the 66.5% implied probability for a meeting by August 31. Traders appear to view the scheduled multilateral gathering as the primary near-term catalyst, with limited downside risk given the established diplomatic rhythm between Moscow and Tehran.
