Minnesota Vikings' defense has emerged as the early frontrunner for highest-rated unit in the 2026 NFL season. Through six weeks, Brian Flores' group leads multiple advanced metrics and traditional rankings, surrendering just five touchdowns while ranking top-five in both passing and rushing yards allowed per game. Seattle and Denver maintain strong showings built on prior-year continuity and pass-rush depth, with the Seahawks and Broncos frequently cited in top-three discussions. Kansas City has climbed recent charts after limiting opponents effectively, while Houston's pre-season pedigree has been tempered by mid-season yardage spikes. Key variables ahead include injury management along the defensive line and linebacker corps, upcoming schedule difficulty against potent offenses, and how teams sustain third-down and red-zone efficiency over the full 17-game slate. Roster health and coaching adjustments will continue shaping consensus as the campaign progresses.
