Dallas Cowboys enter Week 9 at the Indianapolis Colts with mounting secondary injuries that could test their defensive depth. Caleb Downs and P.J. Locke remain in concussion protocol after the overtime collapse against the Cardinals, while Jalen Thompson stays on injured reserve with a hamstring issue; additional questions surround tight ends Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker plus receiver KaVontae Turpin. The Colts, at 2-6 and on a four-game skid, traded key contributors including Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner ahead of the deadline and appear focused on future assets. Dallas holds a slight edge in recent scoring output and quarterback stability with Dak Prescott, yet its third-down defense and run prevention rank among the league's weakest. The matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium features two sub-.500 teams seeking momentum, with Cowboys' injury report and Colts' roster flux shaping the competitive balance.
