The 2026-27 NBA season opens with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder as clear Western Conference frontrunners behind Victor Wembanyama’s defensive dominance and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s MVP-level play, while the East features a crowded group led by the defending champion Knicks, a retooled 76ers squad bolstered by LeBron James alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Trader consensus positions the Cavaliers as a top Eastern contender due to the Donovan Mitchell-James Harden backcourt, Evan Mobley-Jarrett Allen frontcourt, and Peyton Watson addition, paired frequently with the Minnesota Timberwolves, whose Anthony Edwards-LaMelo Ball backcourt and defensive core create a high-variance Western threat. Other elevated matchups such as Pacers-Thunder or Raptors-Thunder reflect similar views on roster continuity, recent form from the prior postseason, and conference pathways after key offseason moves including trades and extensions across multiple contenders. These implied probabilities capture skin-in-the-game assessments of health, depth, and matchup dynamics heading into training camp.
This market will resolve in favor of the 2027 NBA Finals matchup determined by the winners of the Eastern Conference Finals and Western Conference Finals of the 2027 NBA Playoffs. This market will resolve as soon as both conference champions are determined, regardless of any later event affecting the 2027 NBA Finals. If the matchup is not a listed matchup, the "Other" market will resolve to "Yes". If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed matchup to occur in the 2027 NBA Finals (e.g. one of its teams is mathematically eliminated), the associated market will resolve to "No". If the 2027 NBA Playoffs are cancelled, postponed after June 14, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or the 2027 NBA Finals matchup has not been determined within that timeframe, each listed matchup's market will resolve to "No" and the "Other" market will resolve to "Yes". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NBA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
