The Miami Marlins enter Sunday’s series finale at loanDepot park holding a 2-0 edge over the Nationals, buoyed by a strong 40-25 home record and 7-1 season-series advantage. Miami sits at 66-64, third in the NL East, while Washington (61-70) has dropped eight of its last 11 games amid offensive struggles and injuries. Key absences for the Nats include shortstop CJ Abrams (ankle) and outfielder James Wood (oblique), limiting production from their top hitters. On the mound, rookie left-hander Jackson Kent (0-1, 9.39 ERA) faces right-hander Janson Junk (6-8, 4.37 ERA), who has performed better in home starts. Marlins pitching ranks among the league’s stronger units, while both clubs remain well back in the wild-card race with limited remaining schedule leverage.
