The Miami Marlins hold a clear edge in the Saturday matchup at loanDepot park behind Eury Pérez, who enters with a 3.23 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 133 strikeouts over 122-plus innings, compared to Nationals starter Jake Irvin’s 5.80 ERA. Miami improved to 65-64 and 39-25 at home after a dramatic 3-2 walk-off win on Friday that extended its season-series lead to 6-1, while Washington fell to 61-69. The Marlins have posted the ninth-best team ERA in MLB, and their bullpen closed out the opener despite a blown save. Washington’s offense has shown power but faces questions with shortstop C.J. Abrams sidelined by an ankle issue and recent road results. Both clubs remain in the NL East mix but trail Atlanta and Philadelphia.
