Sal Stewart’s historic power production and durability have driven the overwhelming trader consensus around his NL Rookie of the Year candidacy. The Cincinnati Reds first baseman played all 162 games, posting a .263/.330/.457 line with 32 home runs and 112 RBI while leading National League rookies in those categories plus extra-base hits and total bases. He earned All-Star honors, the Sporting News award, and the Players Choice NL Outstanding Rookie honor voted by peers. Finalists Carson Benge and JJ Wetherholt posted solid campaigns but trail significantly in run production. The BBWAA announcement on November 9 remains the resolution trigger; only an unprecedented voter preference for defensive metrics or late momentum could realistically alter the outcome despite the lopsided implied probability.
