Zack Wheeler's overwhelming 97.4% market share stems from his standout 2026 return for the Phillies after thoracic outlet syndrome surgery and blood clot removal that ended his 2025 season. The 36-year-old right-hander posted a 3.00 ERA across 28 starts with a 14-5 record, 193 strikeouts, and velocity comparable to prior ace levels, anchoring a top rotation alongside Cristopher Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo while aiding the team's late push. His recent selection as NL Comeback Player in the MLBPA Players Choice Awards reinforces trader consensus on the official award outcome. Scenarios that could shift probabilities include unexpected voter preference for a different narrative or late statistical adjustments, though Wheeler's documented recovery and production make such outcomes unlikely.
This market will resolve to the player who wins the 2026 National League Comeback Player of the Year award for the 2026 MLB Season. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by MLB rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If the 2026 MLB season is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Major League Baseball; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
