Gonzalo Villanueva, the 31-year-old Argentine ranked near No. 316-320, holds a clear experience and ranking edge over 21-year-old Uruguayan Joaquin Aguilar Cardozo (around No. 446-482) in this ITF M25 Asuncion clay-court quarterfinal. Villanueva recently defeated a related opponent, Federico Aguilar Cardozo, in straight sets during the same event and previously beat Joaquin 6-0, 7-5 in the June 2026 Asuncion Challenger on comparable clay. Both South American players are comfortable on the surface, but Villanueva’s longer track record at this level and recent form provide the primary drivers of market positioning, while the younger Aguilar Cardozo’s potential for improvement keeps the matchup from being entirely one-sided.
