Ana Sofia Sanchez enters this W35 Barueri hard-court matchup as the clear favorite against 19-year-old Brazilian Sofia Cohen Perovani, driven by her vastly superior experience, WTA ranking near 416 versus the teenager’s position outside the top 1,000, and proven ITF results. Sanchez, a 32-year-old Mexican with a career-high singles ranking of 173, has shown solid form in recent South American events, including multiple wins on clay leading into August 2026. Cohen Perovani holds a limited 2026 record with early-round exits and qualifier struggles, lacking the consistency or power to challenge established pros on hard courts. The surface favors Sanchez’s baseline game and shot-making, while the age and ranking gap creates a steep barrier for an upset in this opening-round encounter.
