Latest National Weather Service and model guidance for New York City on August 24 point to a high in the upper 70s to low 80s, consistent with the market’s heavy weighting on the 78–81°F bins. Cooler-than-average conditions stem from a lingering maritime air mass, light southwesterly flow, and partial cloud cover that limits daytime heating, keeping readings below the 83°F August climatological normal at Central Park. Recent runs show minimal model spread, with little indication of stronger ridging or downslope warming that would push temperatures higher. Traders appear to be pricing in this stable, near-term forecast consensus ahead of any final observational adjustments on the 24th.
