This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Los Angeles International Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 29 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klax This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Trader sentiment for the highest temperature at the primary Los Angeles reference station (LAX) on August 29 centers on the 84–85°F bin (48.5% implied probability), followed by 82–83°F (22.5%) and 86–87°F (18.0%). These outcomes reflect National Weather Service consensus forecasts of highs near 80°F at the immediate coast to around 90°F a short distance inland under sunny skies and southwest winds of about 15 mph. Onshore marine flow from the Pacific is the dominant cooling mechanism, limiting afternoon maxima after an intense inland heat wave (highs of 97–102°F on August 27–28) while keeping dew points elevated and preventing stronger diabatic heating. Recent model runs and observations show a shallow marine layer and light-to-moderate onshore winds moderating the coastal plain, consistent with climatological patterns where late-August LAX maxima average near 77°F but can reach the mid-80s during transitional onshore regimes. The market-implied distribution aligns with this narrow range, as any stronger offshore flow or delayed marine intrusion could push readings into the upper 80s, while deeper marine influence would favor the lower-80s bins. Updated NWS guidance and afternoon observations on August 29 will be the key near-term drivers.
