This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Los Angeles International Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 23 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klax To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Persistent marine layer influence and onshore flow are keeping coastal Los Angeles temperatures well below seasonal averages on August 23, 2026. National Weather Service point forecasts for KLAX and surrounding areas project a daytime high near 78–81°F, with patchy morning fog giving way to gradual clearing under mostly sunny skies. This aligns with recent observed highs of 82–86°F and reflects typical late-summer coastal moderation, where the cool Pacific air mass limits daytime warming despite the calendar date. Model consensus supports little deviation from this range, as boundary-layer moisture and light winds maintain the marine inversion. Historical climatology for late August shows coastal maxima rarely exceed the mid-80s without strong offshore flow or a pronounced heat dome, neither of which is indicated in current guidance. The market’s overwhelming 99.9% implied probability on 91°F or below therefore tracks verified observational data and short-range model agreement rather than speculation. Only a rapid, unexpected erosion of the marine layer combined with downslope warming could push readings into the low 90s; such developments remain low-probability given the established synoptic pattern and proximity to resolution. Updated NWS briefings and afternoon observations will provide the final confirmation.
