This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Traders assign the highest implied probabilities to a 32°C or 33°C peak in Kuala Lumpur on August 26 because current model consensus and official guidance point to moderation from afternoon thunderstorms and cloud cover. METMalaysia forecasts a maximum of 34°C with isolated thunderstorms, while shorter-range guidance from the UK Met Office and other sources centers on 32°C under overcast conditions that limit solar heating. High regional humidity and moisture from the southwest monsoon further suppress extremes, consistent with recent August observations that have clustered between 32–34°C. A strengthening El Niño contributes to above-normal temperatures across Southeast Asia this season, but day-to-day convective activity introduces enough uncertainty to keep the market-implied odds centered on the lower end of the typical 31–34°C range. Updated forecasts from METMalaysia and NOAA will be the next key inputs before resolution.
