This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 30 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=zuck If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Recent heavy rainfall and associated cloud cover from a strong precipitation event across Chongqing are the dominant drivers moderating temperatures ahead of August 30. Official forecasts from the Chongqing Meteorological Bureau indicate that mid-western and southeastern districts will see lingering clouds with scattered showers or drizzle through the daytime on the 30th, limiting solar insolation and promoting evaporative cooling after widespread rain on the 28th–29th that dropped highs notably from prior peaks near 37–40°C. Center-city guidance centers on a 24–31°C range, with broader municipal maxima projected around 20–37°C amid mostly cloudy to overcast conditions. Model outputs and observational trends align closely with this cooling signal, producing a narrow distribution of expected daily maxima. Subtle differences in timing—such as when clouds break or how much residual moisture remains—explain the tight clustering around 28–30°C. Greater persistent cloud cover or later clearing favors the lower end of that band by reducing daytime heating rates, while earlier partial clearing or lighter precipitation could allow brief additional warming toward 30–31°C. Low probabilities for extremes reflect both the entrenched post-frontal moisture and the limited window for recovery before the 30th. Traders appear to weigh the official guidance and ensemble consensus heavily, recognizing that small forecast adjustments in cloud timing or localized convection could shift the realized high within the favored 28–30°C window. Historical late-August patterns in the region show similar rain-induced cooldowns often capping maxima 4–8°C below clear-sky potential.
