This market will resolve based on the highest temperature recorded in the 'Daily Observations' table on Weather Underground, not the figure displayed in the 'Day High & Low' summary section; in the event of any discrepancy between the two, the Daily Observations table shall be the primary resolution source not the Day High & Low section. This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 18 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/chongqing/ZUCK. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Recent meteorological forecasts position 33–35°C as the most probable range for Chongqing’s official maximum temperature on August 18, 2026. Multiple sources, including the UK Met Office and regional climate summaries, currently project a daytime high near 33°C under partly cloudy or thundershower conditions, while others allow for brief clearing that could push readings to 34–35°C. Chongqing’s location in the Sichuan Basin traps heat and moisture, producing the classic subtropical summer pattern of highs typically 32–35°C in mid-August, with humidity often exceeding 70% that limits overnight cooling. Model consensus reflects modest day-to-day variability from potential convective activity and light winds, which can either cap the peak or permit brief spikes. Historical climatology shows August maxima averaging around 33–34°C, with occasional excursions above 36°C only under strong high-pressure dominance. No major heatwave amplification is indicated in the latest guidance, keeping extreme outcomes (>37°C) at low implied probabilities. The primary near-term catalyst remains the next updated model runs and official China Meteorological Administration observations tomorrow, which will resolve whether cloud cover or localized showers trim the high or allow it to reach the upper end of the current 33–35°C cluster.
