Christian McCaffrey enters the 49ers’ Week 8 bye with 389 rushing yards and a league-leading eight touchdowns through seven games on 84 carries. He sustained a mild hamstring strain in the Week 7 loss at Atlanta after initially leaving briefly with what was described as a thigh issue, though he returned to finish with seven carries and six receptions. San Francisco’s front office and coaching staff have expressed optimism that imaging looks favorable and that the running back will be available for the Nov. 8 matchup against the Raiders. The 30-year-old has started every game this season despite a well-documented injury history, and the 6-1 49ers continue to lean on him heavily in the backfield even as other offensive contributors recover from their own ailments. His workload and health over the final 10 regular-season games will determine whether early production translates to a strong season-long total.
