Yibing Wu faces Adam Walton in a first-round US Open hard-court match, a closely contested Grand Slam opener between players ranked 113 and 93. Walton holds a modest ranking advantage and stronger recent hard-court results at ATP 1000 level in Cincinnati, where he reached the round of 32 before a three-set loss, while both players exited Winston-Salem early. Wu, returning from prior injury setbacks, shows solid Challenger form but a mixed 23-25 main-draw hard-court record; Walton’s main-tour experience remains limited. With no head-to-head history, serve consistency and break-point conversion on the fast New York surface figure as primary differentiators in what trader consensus views as a near-even matchup.
