Coleman Wong, the No. 2 seed and world No. 93-94, enters this US Open qualifying semifinal against No. 191 Lukas Neumayer with clear ranking and recent-form advantages on outdoor hard courts. The 22-year-old Hong Kong player reached a career-high ranking in August after strong results at Los Cabos and Cincinnati, including wins over Jiri Lehecka and Jenson Brooksby, and advanced from his qualifying quarterfinal with a comeback victory over Elmer Moller. Neumayer, a 23-year-old Austrian with a clay-heavy background and career-high of No. 157, advanced past James McCabe but has posted mixed hard-court results and trails significantly in overall level. Wong’s superior ranking, hard-court record, and momentum position him as the consensus favorite in this best-of-three match.
