Daniil Medvedev enters the Cincinnati Open second round as the clear market favorite against qualifier Marco Trungelliti, reflecting the significant gap in ranking, experience, and hard-court pedigree. The fourth seed, ranked inside the top 10, brings a strong 2026 record and proven Masters-level consistency, while the 36-year-old Trungelliti sits near No. 91 after a career-high of 76 earlier this year. Trungelliti advanced by defeating Hamad Medjedovic in the first round and carries one prior head-to-head win over Medvedev on clay, but the current hard-court matchup favors Medvedev’s baseline game and return pressure. Recent form, surface preference, and the ATP 1000 setting anchor trader consensus around a high implied probability for the higher-ranked player.
