Arthur Fils enters the Cincinnati Open quarterfinal as the clear favorite against Thiago Agustin Tirante, reflecting his stronger hard-court record this season and deeper experience at Masters 1000 level. Fils arrives with a 19-7 hard-court mark, recent semifinal appearances in Miami and Madrid, and multiple quarterfinals at this tier, while Tirante has logged significantly more court time—over 11 hours versus Fils’ under six—following an unexpected run that included a career-highlight victory over Novak Djokovic. Their first meeting favors the Frenchman’s power game and consistency on outdoor hard courts. Tirante’s baseline resilience offers realistic upset potential in a best-of-three format, though fatigue and error-prone tendencies remain key variables heading into the August 21 match.
