Luca Staeheli faces Andrey Chepelev in the first round of the Sion Challenger on clay. The Swiss player enters with a strong 34-17 record in 2026 and recent wins on home soil, including strong showings in ITF and national events, giving him notable local support and surface familiarity. Chepelev, ranked higher at No. 359 with a career high of 339, brings left-handed variety but shows more inconsistent recent results. Traders appear to price Staeheli as the slight favorite due to the home-clay edge and current form, though the higher-ranked Russian maintains realistic upset potential in a low-ranked challenger matchup where early-round variance remains high. No major injuries or withdrawals have been reported.
