Lorenzo Sonego faces Vit Kopriva in the first round of the 2026 Winston-Salem Open on outdoor hard courts, a surface where Sonego holds a substantially stronger career record. Ranked 88th, Sonego enters with five wins in his last ten matches and an 8-12 season record, while 71st-ranked Kopriva sits at 18-17 overall but has struggled on hard with just three wins in his most recent outings on the surface. Their only prior meeting came on clay in Marrakech last year, where Kopriva prevailed in three sets. Both players arrive off limited recent hard-court success ahead of the US Open, with Sonego's greater height and serve output on faster courts representing the key differentiator in this closely matched encounter.
