Ben Shelton enters the first-round US Open matchup as the clear favorite, with trader consensus reflecting an 85-86% implied win probability driven by his No. 8-9 ranking, elite hard-court form, and recent title defense at the Canadian Open where he dropped no sets. The American left-hander’s powerful serve, strong return game, and experience in best-of-five sets on home hard courts contrast with Griekspoor’s No. 56 ranking and inconsistent 2026 results (14-18 overall). Griekspoor showed upset potential by defeating Alexander Zverev in Montreal and reaching the fourth round there, leveraging his big serve, but he has struggled for sustained results and faces a tough stylistic test against Shelton’s pace and lefty spin. No prior head-to-head exists, and the night-session atmosphere at Flushing Meadows adds another layer favoring the higher-seeded player.
