Shapovalov enters the Cincinnati Open first-round matchup as the consensus favorite at implied probabilities near 60 percent, buoyed by his higher ranking, powerful serve, and two ATP titles earlier in the season at Dallas and Los Cabos. Both players arrive with mixed 2026 records—Shapovalov at 13-15 and Mannarino at 12-20—after early exits in Montreal, where Shapovalov fell to Zachary Svajda and Mannarino lost to Jacob Fearnley. The left-handed Mannarino brings experience and solid hard-court movement but faces a stylistic challenge against Shapovalov’s aggressive baseline game on outdoor hard courts. Recent form shows inconsistency for both, with no confirmed injuries or withdrawals altering the draw. As a Round of 128 encounter, the outcome hinges on early-match execution and adaptation to conditions at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
